Pescadero Country Park Backpacking Logistics
Take special note of the (legally) blazing fire in early August 2009.
Campsite: Shaw Flat
> One of 2 trail camps in the park
> 9 well placed sites offering varying degrees of privacy
> No reservations are taken and the trail camps are reported to be never full
> Wood gathering allowed
> Pit toilets
> Nearest water source is Pescadero creek another 1/4 mile down the trail
> Campfires allowed year-round
Trailhead: Hoffman Flat
> Register at Memorial Park
> Turn on Wurr Road road to access trailhead
> 2.5 miles (one way to Shaw Flat campground)
> 90% shaded trail via the Pomponio Trail
> Hike Old Haul Road until you see sinage on the left for Pomponio Trail
Horses and mountain bikes are welcome on much of the trail system
